The Schools & External Development Wing
The CAS is organised into four internal schools and one external development wing. Each entity has a distinct purpose, a distinct audience, and a distinct economic model. The four-school-plus-one-wing structure is the primary organising principle of the institution and of this website.
School of Languages & Cultures
The only public-service school that trains Anishinaabe in their own language.
Government Anishinaabe proficiency certification, from foundational literacy to advanced professional fluency. The corpus of administrative Anishinaabe terminology is developed and maintained here.
School of Government Standard Training
Mandatory distance training that every civil servant completes.
Eight foundational courses, thirty-one modules, approximately four hundred and thirty knowledge-check questions. Delivered asynchronously through the CAS learning platform. No competitive admission; assignment is through the personnel system.
School of Programs
Cohort-based, case-method courses for mid-career and senior officials.
Six middle-management cases and five executive leadership cases. Synchronous instruction; cohort-based; case-method pedagogy with realistic document bundles and faculty-graded deliverables.
School of Residential Studies
Intensive residential programming for senior leaders and specialised cohorts.
The School of Residential Studies is the fourth school of the CAS. Further detail will be published as the school's programming develops.
External Development Wing
Commercial training for non-government audiences, delivered through CAS infrastructure.
The External Development Wing (EDW) repurposes CAS infrastructure — curriculum design, learning platform, instructor pool — to deliver commercial training to private-sector, non-profit, and international audiences. Revenue from EDW courses cross-subsidises the institution's public-service mission.
